Earth has some amazing resources that are now a big part of everyday life. We use almost everything the planet has to offer. Private owned businesses have their eyes set on elsewhere for new resources that cannot be found on Earth but can be found on asteroids. The space business is currently a $330 billion industry with accelerating growth. Continuing rapid growth of in-space businesses will increase the need for an in-space supply of propellants, life support materials, metals, and other commodities. This is the goal of Deep Space Industries: in-space delivery of the right materials, to the right place, for the right price, to support the sustainable expansion of Earth’s economy into space. Asteroid resources include all the same materials other planets are made of, providing an abundant amount of exactly what we need in space. The C-group and related classes of asteroids contain high amounts of water and other important elements like organic carbon, nitrogen, sulfur as well as precious metals. Ideal mining asteroids are the ones that pass through Earth's neighborhood. These small body asteroids have little gravity making it easy to mine the resources we need. After the materials are extracted they are put into a usable form to be able to be manufactured back on Earth. I think that in years to come asteroid mining will change the world.

Todd Fehr Chicken marsala is an Italian-American dish made from chicken cutlets, mushrooms, and Marsala wine. It is a variation of traditional Italian scaloppina dishes, of which there are many varieties throughout Italy. The dish dates to the 19th century, when it most likely originated with English families who lived in western Sicily, where Marsala wine is produced.[1] The chicken is coated in flour, briefly sautéed, and then removed from the pan, which is then used to make a Marsala reduction sauce. The sauce is made by reducing the wine to nearly the consistency of a syrup while adding onions or shallots, as well as mushrooms, herbs and possibly other ingredients. The sauce is then poured over the chicken, which has been kept in a warming oven, and served immediately.[2] In an alternative method, the chicken breasts may be braised in a mixture of Marsala, butter, olive oil, mushrooms, and spices. Ingredients
Heat the oil over medium-high flame in a large skillet. When the oil is nice and hot, dredge both sides of the chicken cutlets in the seasoned flour, shaking off the excess. Slip the cutlets into the pan and fry for 5 minutes on each side until golden, turning once – do this in batches if the pieces don't fit comfortably in the pan. Remove the chicken to a large platter in a single layer to keep warm. Lower the heat to medium and add the prosciutto to the drippings in the pan, saute for 1 minute to render out some of the fat. Now, add the mushrooms and saute until they are nicely browned and their moisture has evaporated, about 5 minutes; season with salt and pepper. Pour the Marsala in the pan and boil down for a few seconds to cook out the alcohol. Add the chicken stock and simmer for a minute to reduce the sauce slightly. Stir in the butter and return the chicken to the pan; simmer gently for 1 minute to heat the chicken through. Season with salt and pepper and garnish with chopped parsley before serving. Julia Johnson On Tuesday February 13th, Bayport - Blue Point hosted our 4th annual ‘Red Watch Band’ program. The event was sponsored by the SADD club, the Bayport-Blue Point Public Library and the Great South Bay Coalition. Students had the amazing opportunity to learn life saving skills. The program was instructed by Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Kimberly Hession and Certified CPR Instructor/ clinical coordinator for Hofstra University Athletic Training Education Program, Kristin LoNigro. The Bayport-Blue Point Public Library provided the instructors, and BBP High School couldn't thank them and Mr.Firestone enough for the generous deed and thoughtful consideration. The two guided students as they learned CPR/AED and how to recognize an emergency situation. Following the course, the Great South Bay Coalition provided a pizza dinner for the newly certified students. Students were very satisfied and happy with their achievements that night; they received their Red Bands, CPR cards, Certificates and the awareness that will last a lifetime. Being in a situation where someone's life is at risk is extremely scary. But thanks to the ‘Red Watch Band’, BBP High School Students are equipped with the knowledge and skills to successfully assess and solve the issue. With the new Snapchat update, many teens have been figuring out ways to get rid of it. One of the ways people have tried to change it, which had worked for a little but Snapchat found a way around it. You would delete the app, re-download it, click forgot password, and then change it. This trick had worked for a short period of time before Snapchat changed it back to the new updated version. Many teenagers have been tweeting and emailing snapchat to change Snapchat back to its previous way. Along with many angry teens trying to contact Snapchat creators to change it back, multiple petitions are being created. This update has changed many things like where things are and how things like snap-map look. This new Snapchat update was meant to make the app easier to use and to be more organised. But in reality the app looks even more confusing and it isn’t much easier to use. With this new update it is harder to find stories, considering its on the same slide as the snaps you recieved. Sometimes you have to scroll all the way down to find a story. The snapchats you don’t open will move to the top of your snap list and it makes everything out of place. Along with the confusing way to find things, trying to snapchat people got more confusing. Your list with everyone you have on snapchat disappeared. When you click send you’ll get a list of your friends and no longer have a best-friends list. One good thing that has come out of this update is the new fonts you get. You can turn your writing into fonts like script or make it glow. Was the update really worth getting a bunch of complains against them. Meghan Clayton
On February 9, the 23rd Winter Olympic Games began in Pyeongchang South Korea. This highly anticipated event is broadcasted worldwide and celebrated by participating countries across the globe. But where did the roots of these games begin? The first official Winter Olympic Games took place in Chamonix in the French Alps in 1924. 16 countries joined together in these first games, as opposed to today’s Winter games boasting 92 participating countries. With only 258 total athletes participating, (just more than the U.S. 2018 team, which has 242 total members) what was originally called “International Winter Sports Week” was such a success that the International Olympic Committee deemed it to be the first winter olympics, setting the second olympics, to take place in 1918 in St. Moritz, Switzerland, as the second Olympics. There were many differences between this Olympics and what we see today. For starters, instead of the customized team uniforms tailored each Olympics for competing athletes to enter in for the opening ceremony, athletes marched in wearing their competing uniforms while carrying their equipment. In addition, fewer than a dozen women competed in this first Olympics, and all of the female athletes were figure skaters. Now, 43% of the competing athletes are female. Finally, while today’s winter olympics offers some indoor events, allowing for activities such as figure skating not to be affected by poor conditions. However, this was not the case in the first Olympics. A mixture of warm temperatures and heavy rains a mere four days before the games melted the ice skating rink and made a muddy mess of the ski jump. This forced speed and figure skaters as well as hockey players to practice together on a cramped curling rink. Despite all the differences over time between the first Winter Olympics and 2018’s Winter Olympics, one thing remains the same, and that is the spirit of the Olympics. More than 10,000 spectators at the 1914 Winter Olympic Games felt the same excitement and energy as all the spectators today when we watch the Olympics, and that energy will never go away. Danielle Keenan Music is something that almost everyone can relate to. Some people use it as an escape from reality and some use it as a form of stress relief. But in the end most people connect with others through music and is constantly bringing all different kinds of people together. there are so many reasons that different people listen to music. I for one listen to different music for all different reasons. People that know me really well, know that when I have earbuds in at school that I am either super anxious about probably something I really shouldn’t be worried about or I’m just having an off day. But as soon as I put music on I feel so much better. Music has helped me in so many ways to express how I am feeling to people when I don’t know how to use my own words. It has helped me to show people who I am. I have a very broad music taste from top hits you hear on the radio all the way to country music that a lot of people don’t really like or have even never heard of. I love hearing a song for the first time and knowing that it could mean something to me and something totally different to someone else. I love being with people that have a different music taste than I do because most of the time it just opens me up to more music that I never would have known before. Music is a huge part of my life and life would be very boring without it. I feel that music makes me feel less awkward because I feel like myself when I’m listening to music. I don’t have to be the really shy girl that really just wants to talk to everyone but gets nervous because she thinks if she talks to someone first they might think she’s awkward. I don’t have to compare myself to anyone else that’s prettier or smarter or skinnier than me because well music isn’t about me so to speak it’s about life and love and anything else you want it to be about. And that’s why I like it so much because it can mean something so different to me than it does to you or someone else you know. A lot of people say that music has made them who they are today and I definitely agree. Rayan Alam
On February 14th, 2018, a heavily armed young man named Nikolas Cruz opened fire at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School killing 17 people (including students, teachers, etc.). Nikolas Cruz used to be student at that high school and was expelled for disciplinary reasons. He also posted disturbing material on his social media before the shooting happened. According to his teachers, many of them said that Nikolas Cruz’s problems started as early as Middle School and then quickly intensified. There were vocal outbursts, disturbing drawings with guns, and constant disciplinary issues. Teachers were very concerned about him and were working with him to get help. When Nikolas Cruz arrived at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, he took out his semi automatic AR-15 assault rifle, pulled the fire alarm (so that students and teachers would leave their classrooms), and then started the deadliest school shooting in Modern U.S History. He then dropped the rifle on the floor and started running away to blend in with the other students. Several students said they found it strange to hear the fire alarm go off because they already had a fire drill earlier that day. Nikolas Cruz walked to Subway to buy a drink then he went to McDonalds and acted like nothing happened. After he walked out of McDonalds, the police found him and put him into Custody. Compelling characters make the movie although in terms of plot the movie fails to take many risks. It follows a marvel formula that’s been in existence since Iron Man in 2008. In the film T’Challa succeeds his father as the black panther and ruler of Wakanda, and begins to face the troubles of ruling an advanced society hidden from the rest of the world. The best aspect of this film is it’s array of enlightening characters. T’Challa is a stoic individual yet not unemotional or uncompelling. While his arc in Civil War was more interesting and empathetic, his storyline still has its hardships and final success. Chadwick Boseman is a great actor and gives a fantastic performance here. Daniel Kaluuya, Martin Freeman, Danai Gurira, and Andy Serkis all give great supporting roles for the movie. Letitia Wright plays my favorite side character from the movie enthusiastically portraying T’Challa’s sister Shuri. Her presence is felt in every scene and gives the audience a relatable amount of excitement about what’s happening in the film. The best performance comes from Michael B. Jordan playing T’Challa’s nemesis Erik Killmonger. With a reasonable motive and compelling backstory it’s hard to hate Killmonger, and Jordan’s performance reflects that. His story is tragic in reality turning towards vengeance and anger in the hope of fulfilling his quest. Another fantastic element of the film is the costume design. By basing most of the outfits off of actual African tribes and mixing it with the futuristic vibe of Wakanda the aesthetic of the movie came off really well. They did a great job at expressing culture in this film while also not pressing it too far. Now the shortcomings of this movie are not many but are also not few. For starters while impressive at times, the action sequences can come across as choppy and not edited in a fluid manner. Furthermore the CGI was incredibly obvious at times and didn’t look great. Another weaker aspect is the central plot. It felt formulaic at times making it difficult to feel tension. It unfortunately forced Killmonger to assume the role as a typical marvel villain when deeper characteristics would have allowed him to break this stereotype. His character should’ve been explored further and had more appearances. Julianna Castilletti
